Todays indiana finds!

Picked up a couple of cool pieces today.  A vintage newspaper rack, giant Victorian carved wood mirror frame, coke crates, a super crusty double sided butter finger/baby Ruth sign, big ole pile of tackle/fishing stuff, Nos advertising clock, some strohs beer stuff, cast iron pitchfork, etc etc etc.  Anna is thrilled because she found a 1952 Alaska license plate (which will be going in the personal collection). Pretty decent day!

Look at our new baby!

This weekend something beautiful happened. After weeks (months really) of knit picking and sorting and hard work... we finally got our lovely 1920s correct measure gas pump!  Isn't she a beaut? Doesn't she just look magnificent in our booth?!  We have a Sinclair Dino globe to go on top.  A bunch of the original parts.. a couple sinclair signs to go along.. also got a great 1940s Pepsi thermometer and an 1800s flour sifter!

Come visit us at Wolff's flea market in palatine to take a look! Space I 11!

There's a lot of interest in this lovely specimen so come see before she's gone!

I might have a serious problem

I love vintage lamps so much I can hardly handle myself! Snuck out for a minute today to trek down to the far south side and discovered these beautiful danish modern lamps! The teak floor lamp needs minor repairs, the table lamp needs a whole new redo but we will figure something amazing to do with them.

We still managed to spend the afternoon listing lamps in our etsy shop.

Hoarder house monday

We had an intriguing opportunity to go pick a hoarder house today. We've been to a few, but never anything quite like this. 4 levels, garage, and detached 2 car garage.  Full. Floor to ceiling. Some rooms were so packed you couldn't get in.  And it was gross. Mouse infested. Layers of droppings, rooms of food from the 80s onward.. drawers filled with sand. The works.  It was overwhelming. And stinky. And hot.
We managed to snap a few blurry pictures but they hardly grasp what it was like.
Though we did manage to find some treasures!
A router bit display, a handful of good lamps, interesting giant printing block (need to clean it to figure out what the exact content is, but looks like a woman...?), a couple owl figurines and lamps, cans (notably a lead top 1930s Texaco household lubricant), two copco mid century spice racks, a weird quack massager from the 1950s, and an amazing photo album from 1914 through 1922.  The photo album is one of the cleanest and most complete we've ever found from this era. Content includes railroad, military, theme park, cross dressing, and beach stuff. Very cool!
It was definitely an experience.

Another wednesday in Indiana

A beautiful sunny drive today! Not a huge haul but some great pieces nonetheless.  We got a great Stanley tools router bit display, a nice big duro decals display, a huge primitive wooden carved face in a tree trunk, a set of safe-t-stak industrial stacking metal drawers, and a handful of cans and smalls.  Speaking of cans, here are better pictures of our cans from last week! We sold quite a few over the weekend but still have plenty left!

Car troubles

What a week for us!  Didn't do the coin op show Friday due to the rain and cold... then Sunday morning when we left the apartment at 330 am to go to Wolff's outdoor flea market, we arrived to a nice big flat tire.  No shows sunday for us.

Tire fixed, went to some estates Thursday then Friday morning our radiator cracked and yet another day of the car in the shop. Fortunately, our friend was able to help us our and we went to an incredible sale. Just fabulous! All automotive!

We got boxes of cans. Gas, oil, polish, spray paint, lighter fluid (those will be going into our personal collection). So many cans!! Sinclair, shell, standard oil, turtle wax, rustoleum, and more!

Also got some great hot rod and ford model a fire extinguishers.. a great super rare pure oil sign.

We will take some better pictures once they're all set up in our booth.

First weekend at rosemont for the season! Also todays finds

Sunday started Wolff's outdoor flea markets opening season! It was a bit cold in the wee hours but not too bad.  We are currently prepping for the coin open show this Friday out at pheasant run.  Might be raining but we will be there with the goods!

We got quite the haul today.  Our favorite is the half of a good year tire sign!  Also got lots of good lamps, old lab timer, lots of chemistry/lab glass equipment, gas and oil cans, old wood tool box, some cool grates, roachy gas pump doors, and so much more!
